The Public Service Recruitment Secretariat, on behalf of the National Audit Office, invites Tanzanians with the right qualifications to apply for 28 positions as described below.
The Controller and Auditor General (CAG) is tasked by Article 143 of the Tanzanian Constitution of 1977 to oversee the proper use of public funds. This includes auditing revenue and expenditures approved by Parliament. To perform this constitutional duty effectively, the Public Audit Act (Cap 418) established the National Audit Office (NAO), which the CAG leads.
The CAG ensures all public funds comply with the Constitution, laws, rules, and regulations before approval. Additionally, the CAG oversees various types of audits, such as financial, compliance, performance, technical, investigative, and IT system audits.
Open Position and Description
1. Auditor II (Financial Audit): 21 Positions
Responsibilities:
- Identifying audit areas and maintaining records.
- Assisting in preparing annual audit plans.
- Conducting audits of government expenses, revenues, and special projects.
- Preparing and following up on audit queries and reports.
- Performing other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with Information Technology from a recognized institution.
Salary:
- Based on the government salary scale: SAIS E.
2. Auditor II (IT System Audit—Cybersecurity Focus): 3 Positions
Responsibilities:
- Identifying and documenting potential IT system audit areas.
- Assisting in creating risk-based IT audit plans.
- Collecting and analyzing data for IT audits.
- Assessing IT security controls for effectiveness.
- Drafting audit reports.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, ICT Security, or Computer Network Security from a recognized institution.

3. Auditor II (Performance Audit—Political Science Focus): 2 Positions
Responsibilities:
- Identifying performance audit areas.
- Collecting data and preparing feasibility reports.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Public Administration or Political Science from a recognized institution.
4. Auditor II (Investigative Audit—IT Security Focus): 1 Position

- Preparing draft investigative audit reports.
- Keeping well-organized records of investigative audits.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, ICT Security, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering.
- Must hold certifications like Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) or CCNA Security.
5. Auditor II (Investigative Audit – Programming Focus) : 1 Position
Responsibilities:
- Developing programs for investigative audits.
- Auditing developed systems and analyzing evidence.
- Preparing investigative audit reports.
- Organizing and managing data for audits.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, or Computer Engineering.
- Knowledge in programming languages like Java EE, C#, C++, and Python, and experience with Relational Database Management Systems (RDMS).
