Akiba Commercial Bank Plc commenced banking operations in August 1997 as an initiative of over 300 Tanzanian entrepreneurs who were inspired to move into microfinance by the moral and economical concern for the plight of millions of Tanzanians.

The position reports to the Head of ICT and is responsible for protecting the bank’s information processing assets, managing vulnerabilities within the information processing infrastructure, managing threats and incidents impacting the bank’s information resources, ensuring appropriate use of the bank’s information processing resources, and conducting awareness campaigns for all users regarding their responsibilities for the bank’s security and privacy of information.

Responsibilities:

Create and execute an information security program to communicate and coordinate information security operations inside the bank.
Overseeing the deployment of security measures such as access control, encryption, and authentication.
Manage threat detection and vulnerability management services on a proactive basis, as well as lead any necessary remediation efforts.
Create and manage information security policies, standards, guidelines, processes, and procedures.
Oversee the monitoring and enforcement of security policies, standards, guidelines, processes, and procedures.
Providing security awareness training to staff fosters a security-conscious culture inside the firm.
Identify and separate systems, applications, and information depending on their criticality and sensitivity.
Provide assistance on maintaining the integrity and availability of information and systems.
Establish a framework for network and supporting infrastructure security.
Provide instructions to avoid illegal disclosure, alteration, removal, or destruction of assets.
Lead the creation and implementation of security measures to protect the integrity and confidentiality of information when accessing it online.
Lead the planning activities for the bank’s catastrophe recovery strategy and offer supervision to assure its continuity.
Draw the bank’s attention to any failure to comply with the relevant data protection legislation and regulations.

Qualification required:

University degree in information technology or computer science.
Possessing recognized credentials like CISSP, CISA, and MCSA is useful.
5-10 years of expertise in information security in the banking industry is essential.
Strong written and spoken communication abilities, as well as a high degree of comfort when presenting to diverse teams.
In-depth expertise of data center procedures.
