The Government of Mauritius is providing scholarships to Tanzanian students for undergraduate, graduate, and doctorate programs that are tenable at different Mauritius institutions for the academic year 2025/2026, which the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology is happy to announce to the public.
Eligibilities
The applicant should meet the following requirements:
A. Undergraduate

- Be older than eighteen and younger than twenty-six by January 1, 2026;
- Possess at least five (5) diploma program credits; or
- Possess a secondary education advanced certificate or its equivalent.
B. Postgraduate/Masters and PhD
- Graduated with a bachelor’s degree and at least a master’s degree with upper second-class honors;
- Possess a master’s degree in order to pursue a doctorate; and
- Are under 35 years old for master’s degrees and under 40 years old by January 1, 2026, for doctoral degrees.
C. Masters of Philosophy
- Possess an upper second-class undergraduate degree (or a CPA/GPA of at least 60%), and ideally a master’s degree; and
- By January 1, 2026, not having reached 40 years of age.
Documents required:
- A certified copy of the birth certificate.
- A certified copy of the passport’s biodata page, if one is available;
- certified copies of relevant transcripts and diplomas of education, along with a certified translation if the documents are not in English;
- A copy of an acknowledgment notification or a letter of conditional offer from a public higher education institution in Mauritius;
- Section 6 of the application form contains a medical certificate from a qualified medical practitioner. This has to be properly stamped.
- 750-word study guide for applicants pursuing a master’s degree;
- A comprehensive 1500-word PhD research proposal; and
- Supporting statement from a potential PhD candidate’s university supervisor.
Scope of the scholarship
The scholarship scheme will provide the following:
- Tuition fees and course-related costs;
- Return airfare; and
- Living allowance.

Application procedure and submission
All eligible candidates must read and follow the guidelines strictly.
- Applicants are required to apply online by filling out an application form available at the websites: https://highereducationmauritius.com and https://ministryeducation.govmu.org before printing.
- The Government of the United Republic of Tanzania will not provide a loan or grant for candidates who will be offered this scholarship.
Completed application forms attached with certified copies of the aforementioned documents and testimonials should be sent to the address below not later than April 15, 2025.
