In order to facilitate safe insulin administration and diabetic self-care, PATH’s diabetic CarePak Project uses human-centered design to create a bundled set of diabetes supplies.
The Diabetes CarePak project’s third phase is mixed-methods, longitudinal randomized control research that aims to investigate the cost-effectiveness and health effects of Diabetes CarePak usage by People Living with Diabetes (PLWD) in sixteen Tanzanian districts. Mbarali DC, Chunya DC, Kyela DC, Mbeya DC (Mbalizi), Mafinga DC, Iringa MC, Vwawa DC, Kwimba DC, Misungwi DC, Chato DC, Tarime TC, Maswa DC, Bariadi TC, Tabora MC, Shinyanga MC, and Songea MC are among the districts that are taking part. An estimated six months will pass throughout the trial starting in July 2024.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Standard operational procedures and master study questions
- Develop and exhibit successful interviewing techniques.
- To guarantee voluntary participation, conduct and record informed consent from eligible research participants in accordance with the study protocol and SOPs.
- Use tablet PCs with PLWD to conduct in-person, audio-recorded interviews.
- interview in both Swahili and English, using the survey’s format and sequence of questions.
- During interviews, treat them with dignity and secrecy.
- Observe confidentiality protocols as outlined in training, protocol, and SOPs.
- Every day, upload survey data to the research server via the tablet. Notify the PATH Study Coordinator of any upload issues.
- Translate and transcribe in-depth interview audio recordings.
- Notify participants and the PATH Study Coordinator of any delays or schedule modifications.
- Be accountable, show honesty at work, and show respect for participants and the community.
- As needed, carry out additional study-related tasks.
Period of Implementation:
The anticipated duration of the research assistant’s work is one month, from January to February of 2025.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A diploma in social work, clinical medicine, nursing, statistics, or any other relevant discipline.
- Proficiency in conducting qualitative interviews.
- familiarity with gathering data for investigations.
- knowledge of utilizing Kobo Collect, ODK Collect, and Survey CTO to conduct surveys on tablet computers or mobile phones (or, at ease, on mobile devices).
- proficient in both English and Swahili.
- strong organizational abilities and the capacity to consistently adhere to study-specific protocols and standards.
- strong communication abilities both in writing and speaking, People-focused, works effectively with individuals of various ages.
- kind disposition and aptitude for building relationships.
- must be accessible for the duration of the training session and the expected data collection times.
